HURT
I’m not even sure what I did. I have a memory in my head that I was skipping and running through two feet of snow in the sun, but that’s just my imagination. What actually happened may be another story.
May, 59 New York City, USA
I jumped off a statue and tore my ACL.

Ben, 49
New York City, USA
I fell off my bike while my shoes were still strapped to the pedals. Basically the bike stopped but my body flew forward, so now I’m wearing this for six weeks.

I jammed it playing basketball. They told me it was a hairline fracture but I can’t do anything about it unless I go back to the hospital so I’m like... This is nothing though; you should’ve seen me earlier this year, I had a cast on my arm for six months.
Barry, 22
New York City, USA
It happened on my birthday! I was wearing platform heels and I live in a fifth floor walkup, so of course... Now I’m wearing this all summer.
Briony, 31
New York City, USA
It’s a nerve issue. I’m a nurse and even I don’t know what the heck it is, so I don’t know how long I have to wear this.
Barbara
New York City, USA
We found a dumpster cat and he was scared. I went to the hospital to get a tetanus shot just in case.
Michael, 20
New Orleans, USA
I went skiing earlier this year. I know it’s summer now--it’s a long story. I haven’t been wearing this the whole time. I was, then I wasn’t, then I had an operation, and now...again.
Raditta, 22
New York City, USA
It’s from a growth I had on my arm, or on my wrist. I’m wearing this for compression.
Michael, 53
New York City, USA
He’s gonna be 80. He’s diabetic. He had a hole in his foot and it didn’t heal. It won’t heal for six months probably.
Uri, 80
New York City, USA
I jammed my fingers--more like half my hand--playing basketball. Basically a couple of hairline fractures.
Elijah, 27
New York City, USA
I was eating an ice cream, you see, with two hands, and I fell down. There was a step and I didn’t see it.
Anthony, 73

It’s more just like, “Please don’t run into me right now.” I just had shoulder surgery. There’s no set amount of time I have to wear it.
Andrew, 46
New York City, USA
I went to bed and when I woke up I had herniated my neck. I wear it for protection when I’m out. If someone bumps into me it could ruin my day. When you herniate your neck, it’s not your neck that hurts—it could be anywhere else on your body.
Shannon, 40
New York City, USA
I was in a car crash. I had a steel rod through my chest. You know the steering column? Basically, it went through me so I am wearing this for a long time now.
Norbert, 33
London, UK
I was just cycling.
Elliot, 50

She was cleaning a house with her colleagues and they finished--or almost finished--and went out for some drinks and came back, you know, and the floor was wet and she slipped. It comes off after one month, on November 14th, which is her birthday actually.
Daniela, 21
Venice, IT
I was sailing on a sailing trip and fell over. I landed with fingers first.
Pietro, 56
Venice, IT
Rugby. I tackle.
Fabrice, 40

It was a few days ago and I had an accident. I have a little electric scooter and I crashed, slightly. It’s the first time in my life I’ve broken something.
Leo, 29
Venice, IT
It was up at my place in Pennsylvania during one of the storms, you know the couple of big storms we’ve had recently? And I was clearing the walkway--a flat stone walkway--and I slipped and fell. I thought I had a hairline fracture, but turns out it’s a strained ligament, they x-rayed it and told me. Every time I’ve ever fallen in my life, I completeley relax myself, so I’m less likely to break something that way.
Larry, 73
New York City, USA
Attempted murder. Yeah, no someone actually tried to kill me by running me over with their car. I have a neighbor who is paranoid schizoprenic and he was having a psychotic episode. He’d come after me before this too, but this time he almost got me. I managed to jump out of the way, but I hit my shoulder and broke my scapula.
